MyGovernance


MyGovernance is designed to facilitate cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Myanmar. MyGovernance provides institutional strengthening and policy dialogue support to the Government of Myanmar across a variety of policy areas through the provision of expertise and resources. The project aims to (1) contribute to strengthening governance in support of Myanmar’s democratic transition process and reform agenda, and to (2) strengthen public institutions and non-state actors and develop capacities for policymaking, planning and implementation, in order to respond to citizens’ needs and contribute to general socio-economic development of the country.

HAND-OVER CEREMONY OF THE FINANCING AGREEMENT FOR ENHANCING THE EDUCATION AND SKILLS BASE IN MYANMAR

MyGovernance facilitated a hand-over ceremony of the 'Financing Agreement for Enhancing the Education and Skills Base’ between the European Union and Myanmar on 21 March 2019 at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw. The ceremony was attended by State Counseller Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

The EU’s support to the budget of the Ministry of Education will contribute to equal access to better quality education for all students in Myanmar. Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi and EU Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Kristian Schmidt addressed the audience before Ambassador Schmidt and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Finance U Tun Tun Naing exchanged copies of the Financing Agreement, witnessed by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

The ceremony was attended by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education, U Soe Win, Union Minister for Planning and Finance, U Tun Tun Naing, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Mr. Kristian Schmidt, European Union Ambassador to Myanmar, Jaroslav Doleček and John Nielsen,Ambassadors representing the Czech Republic and Denmark, Dr. Johann Hesse, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Myanmar, Programme Managers and representatives from ADB, International Monetary Fund, UNESCO, I-IDEA, and experts and staff of MyGovernance.
