MyGovernance supports the launch of the 2020 Myanmar Development Assistance Policy
On 12 November 2020, the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations launched the 2020 update to the Myanmar Development Assistance Policy (DAP).
MyGovernance was very pleased to support the development of this important and timely policy document which presents an overarching policy framework designed to guide the delivery of development assistance, together with clear procedures that streamline the identification, design, negotiation, approval, implementation and evaluation of initiatives funded in part or whole by development assistance.
The new DAP included a Foreword penned by Myanmar’s State Counsellor, H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in which the State Counsellor noted:
"This latest iteration of the Myanmar Development Assistance Policy will provide all stakeholders with a newfound impetus and strategic direction, lighting a pathway toward the achievement of tangible development results in the most efficient and sustainable manner that current capacities and context permit."
This message was reinforced by H.E. U Thaung Tun, Union Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations who stated:
“…I am confident that this Development Assistance Policy will provide much needed strategic direction for both our Partners in Development and Government Entities alike."
In a message to development partners, U Thang Aung Kyaw, Director General, FERD noted that the revised DAP is the product of many months of intensive, passionate multi-stakeholder debate and discussion and that this has resulted in:
“…a highly strategic policy document, based upon internationally recognised frameworks and principles of effective development cooperation, that I am confident will further our achievement of national development outcomes as expressed within our Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan 2018-2030 (MSDP).”
